Self-Employed but Very Confused - Please Help

Post by Perdesi007 » Tue Mar 19, 2013 2:57 pm

Hey Guys,

My T1 Extension is due next month, I am showing both Salary and Self-Employed invoices to prove my funds. I am confused what exactly to show to prove Self-Employment payments.

I don't have any company registered under my name, I am working as Sole Trader as IT Specialist and provide IT Services to single users or businesses.

Last time I made my own letter head on my own name .i.e. XYZ Computers

but the company is not registered, do you think it will cause any problem if I show the same letter head again considering I am only a sole trader not working in any company.

Any Help would be appreciated.

The way you have put forward this question seems like you are selling burgers on a van.

Are you registered with HMRC as self employed?

Are you paying your Class 2 NI?

Have you registered your business with HMRC?

You are fine then.

Keep your Class 2 NI payment slips when you go for PEO or if sending by post include them in file.

UTR letter is not necessary but will be nice if you include that as well.

Post by aryana119 » Mon Mar 25, 2013 10:17 pm

I am employed and self employed(a sole trader) as well, I am quite worried as I am going for SAME Day service. Does anyone have any experience to share?

The process is same like the employed only just extra document for self employed.

Class 2 NI
Accountant letter or P & L or invoices summary or invoices generated by yourself.

would the letter from accountant and Bank statements be enough for Self-Employement or we have to show invoices as well ?

is there any thing else that would need to show apart from Class 2 Ni?

would it matter if one has paid class 2 NI altogether (i.e. £280 in one go) but it's a late payment. I think there shouldn't be any prob with it as payment has been made to them a week ago.

waiting for your kind responses.

Two set of evidence need to be shown from different sources. Any combination of the following is acceptable:

Bank Statements (Personal or Business) + Accountant Letter

Bank Statements (Personal or Business) + Invoice Explanation

Bank Statements (Personal or Business) + Company P&L sheet

Bank Statements (Personal or Business) + Accountant letter

Bank Statements (Personal or Business) + Client Invoices

No problem if you have paid NI in full.
