Tier 1 second extension - 3yrs! Is that right?

Hi,
I recently applied for tier 1 second extension and got the extension for three years! My initial extension is as below
Tier-1 Initial - 3yrs
Tier-1 first ext - 2 yrs
Tier-1 second ext - 3yrs

Shouldn't I have got 2yr second extension instead of 3? Or am I missing something!

That's interesting. I would wait for a reply. I have my 2nd ext and I would be glad if I got a 3 years ext. That would solve a lot of my problems

I don't know whether its right or wrong but even I got it for 3 yrs recently. My case was exactly like you.

Initial-3 yrs
First extension- 2 yrs
Second extension- 3 yrs

I just want to know why are you worried that you got an extension for 3 yrs?

Enjoy the error. Many might say, get it rectified from UKBA.

UKBA is correct in your second extension.
Tier-1 Initial - 3yrs
Tier-1 first ext - 2 yrs
Tier-1 second ext - 3yrs

Applicants who got 2 yrs intial visa ,i.e after 06-Apr-2010 will get 2years in 2nd extension.
Tier-1 Initial - 2yrs
Tier-1 first ext - 3 yrs
Tier-1 second ext - 2 yrs

Should have got 2 years. But shouldn't be a problem if they gave you 3 years. Its not your fault. Nothing to worry about.

Hi longshift, navcomps

I guess ull have a difference of opinion. It would be useful to know the correct rule here. Coz if I would get a 3 year 2nd ext then I would rather apply before this new fee hike. My initial app T1G application was made in May 2008. Followed by a 2 year ext in May 2011.

I disagree with navcomps 's comment. My understanding is that if your first approval was after 06/04/10 then its
Tier-1 Initial - 2yrs
Tier-1 first ext - 3 yrs
Tier-1 second ext - 3 yrs

see page 5 of the policy guidance below which says

Leave to Remain (Extension) where previous
grant of leave was as a Tier 1 (General)
Migrant under the Rules in place before the 06
April 2010
For a period of 2 years
