Biometric card mistake. Is it worth correction..?

Post by Tina_Eapen » Wed Mar 27, 2013 6:56 pm

My biometric card got a missing letter from a long Indian place of birth. one repeated letter missing from 11 letter POB. I contacted UKBA & they are asking me to sent original Biometric card (which I am cool) & my Passport (which I am very much worried). I took premium PEO appointment just to avoid posting Passport.

So my queries are..

1. Is that sort of 'mistake' (missing letter) big issue?
2. Is there any other option than sending original passport?.UKBA already have a passport copy which shows correct spelling.
3. Will I be able to take Post office or nationality checking service or similar service.?

thanks.

Get a solicitor to make a certified copy of the passport and send that.

You don't wanna send your passport just in case you have to travel right?
Say you just send your biometric card and have to travel before you get the correct one back. How are you planning to come back to the country without biometric card? :/

As far as I know, you have to send your passport, just confirm with then how long would it take to get back.

To answer the original question, I would personally get that mistake sorted.
Goodluck.

For immediate correction better would be to follow their procedure. If you wish you can send special delivery prepaid envelope for the safer and trackable return of your passport.
Please donot send PM. Write in open forum to facilitate others too.

i had a similar problem 2 years back when they gave me wrong visa expiry date, but they never asked me to send Passport, just asked to send the BRP

but it took a while to get them corrected ( more than a month )

so good luck

but before sending i did write to the case worker and he asked to send the BRP back straight to him in the office not to a general UKBA address
