Current Visa and new passport

hi, one of my friend is about to apply for ILR in Sept. 07 his Indian passport expiring on august 07.

If he apply for a new passport now and if he DONT transfer the hsmp Visa pages to new passport is it going to be a problem while travelling to India or any other place ??

as far as i am aware transfer of visa pages is not required if u carry both old and new passports while travelling.

plz share your thoughts. any advices are highly appreciable.

it is not mandatory to have the visa transferred...just ensure that he brings the old passport that has the stamped visa on...you can request for a transfer but will have to pay a transfer fee (not sure how much it costs)

everything will be okay.

If you want to transfer limited leave to enter or to remain in the UK to a new passport, you will need to use Form TOC.

The fee is either £500 for a premium (in-person application) service or £335 for a postal application.

Frankly, if I were in this situation, I would rather carry my old passport with me than to pay the fee.

That's not quite true. For a TOC application, the postal fee is "only" £160.

Sorry! You are correct. The fee is indeed £160 for postal application but the £500 remains valid for the premium service.
