FLR: student dependant spouse switching

Post by stephadex » Sun Jan 28, 2007 2:27 pm

Experienced guys pls help with this.

While i am the main hsmp applicant, can my wife, who is a postgraduate student in the UK, switch to an hsmp dependant visa while still in the UK?

If yes, can we use the FLR(HSMP) form for her?

If yes still, what efefct will the FLR as student , which she currently has, have on the FLR (HSMP) dependant application?

Thanks.

Yes she can ! Just out of curiousity - why would you want to do that ??
If yes, can we use the FLR(HSMP) form for her?
Yes provided you are applying for FLR under HSMP (initial or extension) at the same time. If not, I think she will need to use the FLR(O) form.
If yes still, what efefct will the FLR as student , which she currently has, have on the FLR (HSMP) dependant application?
No connection or relation.

Thanks for your response, i will check fo the FLR(O).

You asked why we want to do that, the reason is:

We are not sure if the rule of getting the "hsmp stamp" within 6 months is also applicable to the dependant(s).

I willl appreciate your letting me know if this is true or not.

If not, then we will prefer her continuous use of the student visa till as long as possible before switching to any other immigration status.
