2 Offers - help on work permit needed

Post by rajiv502 » Tue Jan 30, 2007 5:51 pm

Hi All,

I am facing a huge dilemma and need help.

I have few questions:

I am currently working for Firm A.
I have got an offer from Firm B.

Firm B has already applied for a change of employment work permit, which should be approved in the next few days.

Now, I have received another offer from Firm C, which is a much better offer than Firm B.

Question 1:How do I proceed?
Can I ask Firm C to apply for change of employment using my current Firm A work permit or new Firm B work permit?
If the change of employment for Firm B is approved.
Do I need to send the Firm B work permit to Firm C for change of employment?
Or
Change of employment can be still done from Firm A to Firm C?

If I get Firm C work permit approved, I have logically 3 work permits.
Question 2
Do I need to get the Firm A and Firm B work permits cancelled necessarily?

Question 3
If my last date with Firm A is 28-FEB, I need to sort out all these with 28 days i.e. 28-mar. Am I correct?

Question 4
I am getting a salary of 38k and the Firm C offer is 55k(London). Can the salary difference be a problem in getting work permit?

Question 5
Firm B offer is 47k from Hampshire and Firm C is 55k from London area.
I am thinking Firm C is better offer as Hampshire is also expensive to my knowledge. Am I correct?

I am in a huge dilemma and need help from all esp. the senior members and moderators.

Even partial reply will help.

Please reply urgently as I need to communicate my response to the employers.

Thanks,
Rajiv

Hi,

I am currently in a same situation like you.

I am currently on a contracted job and work permit with my current employer "company X". I have been offered another contracted position in "company A" two weeks ago and they have sent the work permit application to the Home Office.

Immediately after that, I got a permament job offer from "company B" and I decided to take this one. I have contacted "company A" and they are OK with my decision but the work permit application has already been sent off.

This means that Home Office will see two work permit applications for me from two different companies at the same time, or see the work permit application from "company B" immediately after "company A".

I am not sure if this will cause a problem for the work permit application for "company B" which I intended to go?

Please help me and give me some advise.

Hi,

Usually as far as I have been advised in the past, the latest work permit is the one that is valid. Therefore the previous approved work permit will be void. Hence, based on this, you should be alright?

Just out of curiosity, are you working with an accounting firm? Because I am currently looking for a training position after completing my ACCA?

Thanks
raniwza

Hi raniwza,

Thanks for your reply. I am not working in an accounting firm. Good luck for your job hunting.

What is the maximum duration of a work permit if working on a contract? Is it max 3 months?

Hi all,

The company C offer didnt materialised and I went and joined the company B.
You get a letter of approval that you can work for company B. Then, you apply for FLR stamping using that letter.

I think, you can apply for 2 work permit - change of employment at the same time. You will get 2 approval letters.

The one you take it for FLR stamping will hold true.

Rajiv

This is not true. You cannot apply for 2 work permits at the same time.
You will have to wait until a decision is taken on the first WP application before sending through the second one.
