in the list of accepted professions as referees (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... iew=Binary) there are 2 acceptable professions:

1) Chairman/director of
limited company

2) Director/Manager/Personnel
Officer of a VAT
registered Company

so is that means a director of a limited company can act as a referee even though they are not VAT registered or other way around ?

thank you for your response, my friend is a contractor working through his ltd company so I can use him as the referee ? should I indicate his company details etc on the form ?

If he is a director of a Ltd company then he can be used. You/your referees do not need to put anymore details than it asks.
