Disability Allowance Financial Requirement

Post by ahussa » Fri May 17, 2013 2:47 pm

Hi,

I know of someone British Citizen wishing to call his wife from abroad

He has mother in the UK, who is receiving disability Living allowance, and he is the carer for the mother.

He is receiving money for caring for mother, disability allowance as well.

Can this count towards him meeting the financial requirement?

Thanks

As the sponsor is receiving carers allowance (I assume?) they will be exempt from the new financial requirements. However, they must still be able to maintain themselves without recourse to public funds. Does he/she have savings?

Well, assuming no other income and no children under maintenance for a 2.5 year flr(m) visa you may need to show 112.55 x 52 x 2.5 = around £14600 savings.

Although that may seem a lot, it's considerably less than the new financial requirement for savings alone which is over £60000.
