Tax Return in New Zealand

Post by Kaff » Sat Feb 10, 2007 5:45 am

Guys,

To my understanding Tax return is usually for those who claims it from Income Tax department.
In my case my employer is paying Tax to Tax department from last 3 years, and I am only getting Payslips from employer.

I am getting annual Salary report with Tax deduction from my Inlan Revenue department.

Now my concerns are for HSMP, do I still have to get Tax return?

I talked with my Tax department they told me you don't need it if you are not eligible for it.

I don't know what would be the rection of HSMP team?

Any ideas or Guide lines?
Thanks in advance.
Kaff

"I am getting annual Salary report with Tax deduction from my Inlan Revenue department."

I guess that would be your tax return to be forwarded to Home Office! :?

You need 2 things from IRD

1) Income Tax Summary Statement from IRD for the lastest period which is 2005 april - 2006 april. This shows the amount you earned in that period and the amount of tax you paid.

2) You have to specifically request a letter from IRD that states your income and tax paid for the rest of the period you are claiming for.
e.g I applied in Dec and I was claiming income from end of oct 2005 - end of oct 2006. So I had to get the period from april 06 - end of oct 06 which states my income and what I was taxed.
