Switch from Tier1 to EEA Family Permit?

Hi,

I am on a Tier1 PBS visa living in the UK for the last 4 years. My wife is an EEA national and lives and works in the UK too. Its visa extension time for me and I would like to know if instead of extending my Tier1 visa, can I become a dependent of an EEA national instead (EEA family permit). If I do, would it affect my work status or/and my Indefinite leave to Remain status (which I shall be eligible for next year). The reason I want to shift is because the EEA family permit is free vs £2,000 for an extension
