It doesn't have to be an American company. Any company that is hiring a person of your qualifications may consider covering your relocation expenses.
You just have to be valuable enough to them to be worth it.
In most all cases, your work permit in your new country will almost always be tied to your job .. so if you think you can take a job, relocate, then quit or move to another job, it's a bit more complex than that.
There are thousands of companies hiring .. you just need to get a skills match with someone who will import you to country you are interested in.
If you have enough money, you can start your own business in many places and hire yourself. I did that in Latvia. Costs about $4000 USD in start-up and just under $10,000 annual in taxes, currently.
As an American, you have vast advantages over many other people. You can travel to any EU nation on a 90-day tourist visa .. meaning, buy a plane ticket and land. Your passport is your 90-day visa.
Don't over-stay and don't work .... you can be banned from that country for five years and have serious difficulty in obtaining a work permit/residency visa.
However, you can travel and network and job hunt across more than two dozen countries until you find something that works out for you.
