self assesment statement has not taken

Post by sudhibabu » Fri Jul 12, 2013 12:51 pm

Hi ,

Today my self-employed friend applied for citizenship through NCS.

However, the employee at council has not taken self assessment statement saying it was not needed.

Can someone please clarify on this.

SELF-EMPLOYED APPLICANTS
If you do not pay tax through Pay As You Earn (PAYE) arrangements, we require
• The most recent HM Revenue & Customs Self Assessment Statement of Account

or were they applying as a Spouse of a British Citizen?

no.

She is applying on her own .

She has been self employed for five years and drawing salary as paye and dividends.

I am eager and bit worried to hear from those who applied already as self employed for citizenship.

Thanks

Had the same question and took my self assessment statement from HMRC, but my NCS person also said it was needed and I got my approval. I think they just based on the NI number.
