FLR O extension working and marriage

Hi all. my fiancee and i have 3 children and applied for discretionary leave in july 2010. this was granted for 3 years within 1 month of applying. we have now applied for an extension on form FLR O. I just wanted to ask can my fiancee still apply for jobs? his old documents were sent with the new application. at interviews what does he use to prove his immigration status? can he get a letter from the home office or do empliyers call the home office for checks? Also can we still register at a designated registry office for our wedding or do we have to wait until they approve his extension? thank u
