Tier 2(General) - Start Date mentioned in COS is wrong

Hi,

My employer has issued my COS on 17th July and she has written the Start Date 15th July. She is saying that she did that to match the date to the job posting online.

My question is as the Start Date mentioned in my COS is in the Past will my application be rejected? ( Considering it is mention in the UKBA COS help text that the start date should be a date in future )

If I attach a letter from my employer with my application saying why she has written this date and not a date in future will it be ok?

Should I use this COS or should I ask my employer to assign a new one?
Does the Start Date plays an important role in a COS and will it be rejected even if I am attaching a letter explaining this?
