Should I renew my GNIB card while I wait to hear back?

Post by mauraaisling » Mon Aug 26, 2013 12:25 pm

I applied for citizenship earlier in the year. I am non EU and my husband is an Irish citizen. I have a GNIB card that expires in December.

When do you get those cards renewed? Should I do it now - do I wait for it to expire?

Should I hold tight to see if I approved for citizenship before then? What if I am approved but my GNIB expires between the time I am approved and the time I attend a ceremony?

Also - I know you send your GNIB card in if you are approved? What should you do if while you don't have your card? Just keep a copy of it?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
