Can a tier 4 student use his joint account with his wife to apply for extension?

So bank statement shows:

Mr STUDENT NAME & Mrs Student Wife Name

Would that be acceptable or like Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa UKBA ask you to either have bank statement only on your name or get letter signed from wife in front of solicitor plus solicitor verification letter.

Yes. You don't need a letter from her. The fact that it is a joint account means that you automatically have permission to use the funds in that account.
