Query about OCI when only have birth certificate

Query about OCI when only have birth certificate

I was born in India and came to the UK on my mothers passport. She no longer has her surrender certificate. My mother does not have her surrender certificate - even though if she did, my name is not on it.

What can I do about this?

Also, I have a recently issued birth certificate and was told by HCI officer that this needs to be certified by a Collector or a Magistrate who is a class one officer.

Is this correct or does it have to be the collector only?
