Do you need to sign all the photocopies

Post by VR » Sun Oct 20, 2013 9:55 am

Hi,

Do you need to self certify all the photocopies by signing them?
Can some one outline the process

a) What needs to be done when you go to submit your application at the Embassy ? Do you need to get tokens? Is there a designated queue for submitting the application?

b)Can you pay all the fees in one shot by credit card?

c)Do they give you a receipt for your application and some reference which you can track online

d)When the OCI card is ready, what time do you go to collect the same? Is there a separate queue for this? Do they affix this to your British Passport?

e)Cant you apply for the OCI card with only your Indian Passport details?

Appreciate any responses.
cheers

take a look at the HCI website - OCI section http://hcilondon.in/oci.html

it will answer most of your questions

So original and photocopy of Surrender certificate and copy of cancelled Indian post will suffice, when submitting postal OCI application

Thanks

As per my view potocopies of Indian passport should be taken off from the above list or it could be mentioned that it is required on case to case basis. This would take off worries and confusion from peoples head who are going to refer to this post in future where application falls under normal circumstances.

Cheers

Hi! rishikm, Thanks for your observation but this is the mandatory for all so I don't know why you wants to take it off from above list before posting above list I have checked mass history in my group but any way it will be more confusion if you not carry while your oci submission in person and could be ready to pay 10p per copy to use premises photocopy machine.

Hi,

5)Indian passports first & last page in your list

I am not sure from where you got this as required, can you please point me to right direction.

I am referring to http://hcilondon.in/oci.html where it clearly mentions surrender certificate and photocopy for people born in india and no mention of Indian passport and its photocopies.

only place indian passport and its photocopy is mentioned is in supporting documents where
"If the applicant is making application on the basis of documents of parents or grandparents, documentary relationship proof must be provided. In case of documents of parents/grandparents being used, only Indian Passport copies or Indian Birth Certificate copies are acceptable."

wherein normal scenario applicant is born in india and for those surrender certificate is fine
hope it helps and point us all in right direction.

Thanks
Rish

PS: I am planning to send my application through post but It hold good for all irrespective of in person or through post submission
