Wife on Visit Visa

Post by neo_7_u » Mon Sep 30, 2013 11:39 am

Hi,

Please let me know if I can apply for my wife to join me here on a Visit Visa application instead of the spouse visa. I am currently on a Tier 1 Extension set to expire end of next year.

Regards,
Neo

Yes, if it is obvious that she would leave after the visit. However, you have stated join rather than visit so you need to decide exactly what you are intending with this.

Hi,

thanks for the reply, I intend to extend the visit visa to a spouse Visa once she is here. Is there any problem doing this?

Thanks

A visit visa cannot be converted to a settlement visa. The applicant must return to his or her home country to apply.

Any hint that such an attempt may be made is likely to lead to refusal of the visit visa.

bob-russell is correct. You will also have to submit strong evidence showing a reason for your wife to leave the UK without over-staying her visitor visa.
