Post by sia2001 » Wed Apr 04, 2007 4:03 pm

Hi All,
I am on a student visa in Uk and have done my MSC from here as well. i have following questions for anybody kindly to answer:

1. Can I apply for Immigration to Australia from their London Embassy?
2. If yes, how long does it take on average?
3. Is it better to consult and hire an agent or do it yrself?

You'd need to send your application to the Adelaide processing center regardless of your current residence.

It doesn't happen like Canada, where you have to make a preliminary app and wait for them to call back, which could literally take years. If you're interested in Canada, it's probably better to get a job there or in USA first and file your app from one of those countries so that you get priority processing.

For Oz, I'd say 6-12 months depending on your application and nationality. If you qualify for MODL then the processing is faster.

You can check http://www.austimeline.com/ for typical processing times for immigration and skill assessments.
