child born in the UK of parents with ILR

Post by SunShines » Thu Apr 12, 2007 2:51 pm

HI

I am nearing 5 years of stay in the UK and intend to apply for ILR within a week. Also we are expecting a Baby in September. Do we have to apply for ILR for the baby again in Sept/Oct?

I am wondering whether I shall apply for ILR now or in Oct to save the double the cost of application fee. The application fee has gone 124% up to £ 750.

Any views welcome. Thanks

I think a child born to parents who have ILR is automatically a Brit citizen!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong....

Rozen, that is totally right. A child born in the UK after one (or both) parents has ILR will automatically be British from the instant of birth. So no question of applying for a UK visa for the child. The only thing to apply for (when you want to) is a British passport for the child.

SunShines, would I be right in thinking that the plan is for the baby to be born in the UK?
