Not enough points under new system

Post by goose182 » Tue Apr 17, 2007 1:27 pm

Hi All,

I applied and successfully obtained my HSMP in August of 2006 under the old system. I don't have a bachelors degree but have been working in graduate level positions for 11 years (8+ as a specialist). Basically under the new system I can earn max points in every category except education (for which I get a 0) for a grand total of 70 points...leaving me 5 points shy.

I've read about transitioning to a Work Permit and if that is my only option then so be it, but does anyone have any ideas of how I could pick up 5 points in education so that I could qualify for an HSMP extension? I have 14 months left on my current LTR so I'm obviously thinking ahead here, but if anyone knows of any qualifications or certifications that would allow me to claim just 5 points towards education I would love to hear about them.

If it helps I have 11 years of IT experience and some college (dropped out in the .com boom).

Thanks,
Mike
