Vat registration

We r management company started in August-2013 , ready to go for contract with client ,
do I need to register my company for vat now ?
Is requirement of visa ?
As I am working at moment how it's gonna affect me ? I mean I try to registered online but it's asking me my NI no .
Really confused

Hi dear,

Vat registration is not a mandatory requirement from UKBA.

Secondly, you have to register for VAT when your company's turnover is equal to or more than £70000 in a year. Or else you dont need to do it.

Still some people register for VAT to avoid any sort of confusion.

You should consult your CA for the same.

Kumar197, have you sought advice from your Accountant or Tax Adviser about whether to register for VAT?

If not you should ask. After all you might be better off by registering. But do take into account whether your customers or clients have the ability to recoup any VAT you might charge.
