Changing Employeers and the Border

Post by thestas » Tue Dec 10, 2013 10:14 am

Dear Gurus,

I would really appreciate if somebody could answer this for me, and calm my nervous. I am currently on a Tier 2 (G) visa and have told my current employer my last day with them will be the 3rd of January (my current visa does not expire until November 2014).

I was planning on going on holiday from the 26th of December until the 2nd of January. Coming back to work for one last day with my current employer on the 3rd. I also have a Tier 2 (G) Appointment on the 3rd to get my new visa in order for me to start work on 6th with my new employer.

My New Employer thinks there is a significant risk that I may not be let back into the UK on my current Tier 2 (G) visa. Do you think there is any significant risk that I would not be let back in on the 2nd of January on my current Tier 2 (G) visa?

I was just thinking how would they know, would my HR team have to let the home office know? If I bring all the paper work such my new contract, appointment confirmation and resignation letter would this be enough to satisfy the border agency to let me back in?

Basically is there anything to worry about here?

Thank you in advance.
