tier 2 sponsorship from a limited co.

Hi
One of my friends has his own limited company and takes contracting work through it. He is willing to register his firm as a sponsor and sponsor me under Tier 2. I am assuming that will allow me to take contract roles. I would also like to check what sort of processes need to be in place for registering a sponsor.
