Making up points for HSMP based on salary

Post by whirly » Sun May 06, 2007 10:44 pm

Hi All,

A friend of mine is planning to apply for an HSMP later this year. She is currently in the UK on a student visa and has been working as much as is allowed on a student visa, but mainly temp jobs.

She wants to switch to an HSMP and can get almost enough points from her Masters etc, but she needs a few more for salary. She has been considering getting a highly paid executive PA job to make up the extra points, but her question is this:

Do you think it would satisfy the HSMP requirements if she can show employment as a highly paid executive PA + points for the other categories, or will she fail since the job is highly paid but relatively low skilled (as compared to a doctor or engineer, for example)? In other words, do points for salary have to be earned in a highly skilled job to make the application stronger?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

You don't have to earn the salary in a highly skilled profession
Who is to say it isn't highly skilled, some say if it pays that well it must be highly skilled.
once you enter the hsmp, you don't have to stick to work arena you based the application on either as long as you meet the critieria,
education, salary etc

Hi,
If she is struggling to get the required points now would your friend be able to get the same required points after 2 years when she applies for the extension of her HSMP visa. She needs to make sure that she can get those required 75 points to get the extension.
