Naturalisation - Life in the UK Test and Language

Post by zs786 » Mon Jan 13, 2014 12:18 am

Hello

Will be applying for Wifes British Citizen Soon, but had 2 questions hoping someone will be able to assist on:

1.) My Wife passed Life in the UK Test Prior to 28 October 2013 and she obtain Settlement via Indefinate Leave to Remain - Will she need to retake the test given the new requirements for Citizenship Applications that were bought in place in October 2013?

2.) In addition to the Life in the UK Test is there a requirement for a English Quanlifcation e.g. ESOL. The UKBA website is stating under the Documents required section that you need to have an English Quanlifcation at B1 Level OR a pass Letter for Life in the UK - Is this correct, is the Confrimation of Test Pass for Life in the UK Letter Sufficient:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/briti ... documents/

From website:

If you are applying from the UK, you should provide:

your certificate of progression from one English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) level to another, with a letter from the college confirming that you completed an ESOL with citizenship course; or
your letter confirming that you have passed the 'Life in the UK' test, stamped and signed by the test supervisor; or
your confirmation that you met this requirement in order to obtain settlement.

Thank You for any help

She does not need to retake the Life in the UK Test. However, she will need to submit the certificate/letter confirming she passed the Life in the UK Test, stamped and signed by the test supervisor as part of her citizenship application.

The website is incorrect. Please see page 13 of the Guidance http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... ide_an.pdf
