What UK visa for a visiting Research scholar

I am on an Indefinite leave in the UK and I have already applied for my citizenship. I just got married in November and brought my wife to the UK for a short holiday. She came on a tourist visa (expiring in March 2014) and I purposely did not apply for a Dependent’s visa as she will need to go back to India to resume her studies. Fortunately, now she got an opportunity with one of the UK universities to join their university as a ‘Visiting Research Scholar’ for about 6 months (starting from April). I am now not sure under what category I should apply her visa again from India. It won’t be easy to apply as a dependent visa as it takes about 3 months and lots of formalities. Should I apply a Student visa or Academic visitor for her?
