When did CSI become mandatory for students

Post by avellana86 » Tue Jan 14, 2014 2:01 pm

Hi

I seem to remember seeing on here that CSI only became mandatory for students who enrolled after a certain time.

If EU national enrolled in a course January 2008 and graduated April 2011 would that be before the requirement came in?

She was also working part-time (earning approx £7k over the year) so does that also make her exempt from needing CSI?

Ever grateful!

I think if she is NO more studying at the time of application, she will not be considered a student. So, CSI will not be required.
CSI will only be needed if sponsor of an application is a student or self sufficient at the time of application.

Sorry, should have added that this is an application for EEA4 so needs to cover the past 5 year period.

Make/follow one thread anyhow:
Healthcare - comprehensive sickness insurance
Students issued with a registration certificate after 20 June 2011, or never granted a certificate:
You will need to provide evidence that you held comprehensive sickness insurance throughout the time you spent as a student.
If the EU national was working while studying too then as a worker he/she will not need CSI. Simply demonstrate payslips/job contract/employer letter for that period as a worker.
Please donot send PM. Write in open forum to facilitate others too.

CSI is mandatory for students since the regulations were introduced in 2006 but it was not enforced until 2011.

To qualify for the dispensation, one would have needed to have successfully applied prior to the insurance requirement being enforced.

Thank you, well she applied in 2007, started the course in 2008 and qualified in 2011 so am I right in thinking she would qualify for exemption?
