Passport to Liverpool after naturalisation?

Post by virtual-writer » Thu May 10, 2007 11:50 pm

Does one have to send the original passport to Liverpool for viewing, after having a naturalisation application approved?

Once your naturalisation application is approved, it means they have all the documentation they need.

Thanks JAJ.

It's just that my husband believes everybody HAS to show the original passport to them in Liverpool for the approval (!?).

Some of his friends had to go there in person to show it to them.

Does it make a difference if you've applied through NCS or post? Or could it be those persons never sent copies of ALL pages in the passport?

I told him no, never heard of it. If you send verified copies of all pages, why send the original too?

He also wondered if this practice would be exchanged with the face-to-face interview for the British passport......
Maybe he mixes it up with the application for ILR?....

That is completely and utterly incorrect. When you hand in your application for naturalisation, that is it. All the necessary documentation for them to process your application is already included with the application.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

That's not likely anyway, since applying for naturalisation and applying for a passport are completely separate things. It is perfectly possible to apply successfully for naturalisation and either never apply for a British passport or not do so for some time (and some people do this, for all sorts of reasons, not least that they never travel and so don't need a passport, or that their existing passport continues to allow them entry into the UK (e.g. EEA passport, passport endorsed to show right of abode).

Once your naturalisation application is approved, it means they have all the documentation they need.
Once the app is approved that means they are happy with the docs and made the decision.
Don't forget they ahve a clause that if they found the info provided whilst applying for BC they have every right to cancel it
