Employing on Apprenticeship

Post by helpingperson » Sun Jan 19, 2014 8:54 am

Hi

Can you employ British National on apprenticeship in your company?

Will this meet the requirement of creation of 2 jobs for Tier 1 Entrepreneur?

Thank you.

@ helpingperson, you can employ the individual as apprentice but you must pay the minimum wage and you must also meet the minimum hours of 30hrs per week for full-time or as part-time to combine total weekly hrs to 30hrs in order to meet the employment requirement.
The key to success is knowledge and hardwork, and to have faith.

Hi

Thank you for your response.

This does not really answer my question. My question is clearly about apprenticeship?

Please provide me UKBA guidance reference with your comment.

Yes, I would be interested to know this as well. My lawyer said that I can hire an apprentice, but noted it's not well defined anywhere. Please help to clarify

Hey guys

Was wondering anyone found anything regarding hiring an apprentice. Will it be an issue at the time of extension if i have paid them £2.68 per hour. Seems like its bit confusion regarding this. Was wondering any of you found any info in written from UKBA or someone else regarding this?

Thanks

Hi all,

I have 2 years 3 months remaining on initial phase of Tier 1 Entrepreneur. I am looking forward to employ an apprentice for a period of 2 years. Here I have 2 questions?

1. Can I employ an apprentice to fulfill my extension criteria?
2. Did anyone get visa already by employing apprentice?

Your help will be really appreciated

Thanks,
Kev

i am sure you will get stuck with your visa if you hire an apprentice, apprentice are considered as trainee not employee. I am sure because 2 of my friends visa extension was cancelled on these grounds , on making an appeal home office was able to proof why they don't consider apprentice as employee. If you see thats one of the reasons they ask you to summit payslips and also specifically they want to know the wage per hour paid to employee. dont take risk . dont go for apprentice at the moment. maybe they change as it helps their economy .

Thank you.
The answer is NO. Apprentice does not count as full time or part time employee.
