Travel to Iceland, then Norway later, with non-EU spouse

Post by Anglichanin » Mon Jan 20, 2014 7:05 pm

Hello,
My wife is Russian, in the UK on Indefinite Leave to Remain, and I am a British citizen. We have booked a trip to Iceland, 11th to 14th April 2014 inclusive, then a separate trip to Norway, 15 days commencing 12th July 2014.
I know I can get a visa for Iceland for my wife via the Danish Embassy, but the duration they will issue for is unclear. 90-day visas are mentioned but I don't know if I can get longer, since we need 115 days or so of Schengen-zone travel.
So, is the best course of action to apply for a longer Schengen visa (is that possible?) via the Danish Embassy? Do the same via the Norwegian Embassy instead? Or to apply for the Icelandic one, travel, then apply for a new Schengen visa for Norway?
Thanks very much in advance,
James

I would be inclined to detail your travel plans and request a visa that covers the time you will spend there.

I take it that you are aware that the visa will be free of charge.

Yes, I know it is free- thanks for the advice. I'll give that a go.

Perhaps for normal third country nationals. An non-EU national family member who accompanies or joins, does not overstay provided the EU national exercises treaty rights (the first three months do not require anything special).
