Teir2 Visa- Change of Sponsor and Settlement

Hello everyone,

I am new here and I thought you guys might be able to give some thoughts on my situation.
I came to Uk on tier 2 general visa on 28 October 2009
I have renewed my visa on 28 August 2012 valid till 14-Sept-2014.
I understand that there is a 1.5 month gap to apply for leave to remain, which is unfortunate.

My questions are:

1) If I receive a permanent job with another sponsor, can I apply for the extension of tier 2 visa?
2) If yes, is it possible to apply for permanent resident after completing 5 yrs (previous sponsorship+new sponsorship)?
3) Am I also subject to 6 year cap for the visa? I looked at the categories for period of grant from the application guide (page 39) and not sure where I belong

a) Entry Clearance - I do not belong here
b) Leave to Remain where your previous grant
of leave was in one of the categories below: — My leave to remain application was on 28 Aug2012
Tier 2 before 6 April 2011
c) Leave to Remain if your initial grant of leave — My initial leave to enter is on 28 Oct 2009
in Tier 2 is on or after 6 April 2011

what is the "valid from" date on your 2009 visa?

Thanks for the reply. Valid from date in 2009 visa is 20/10/2009

1. yes, you can change sponsors in-country
2. yes, you are eligible to apply for ILR 28 days before 28 Oct 2014 and changing T2G sponsors during the 5 year qualifying does not affect this.
3. no, the 6 year cap only applies to those whose initial T2G leave was granted after 5 April 2011 (not your case)
