I have been employed for three years starting from September 2010 until 5th September 2013, I have registered as a self - employed on 9th September 2013 and started working for a limited company- my first client. Then from 1st December 2013 started working as employed - but I get paid on hourly basis and the payment made monthly. I have paid my NI from 8th September to 5th October 2013 as per the invoice sent me by the HRMC. I contacted HRMC and they told me that the next arrears payment is due in April 2014. My Accountant says that I will pay the tax for the self - employed income by January 2015.
I have appointment for ILR at the end of March 2014 at the PEO. I will show income for the period of February 2013-Janyary 2014 as follows:
January 2013- September 2013 – employed
September 2013-January 2014 – Self-employed
December 2013-January 2014 – employed.
I would like to check with you the experienced Forum friends that:
1. Do I have to pay my NI until February 2014(month before the date of application)? Or if I just let HO know that my next due is in April 2014 as per HRMC. Though I already sent HRMC the direct debit instruction for monthly payment- hope they will take arrears NI monthly by end of March 2014.
2. Do I have to pay my tax for my self –employed income before I attain at PEO? Or I can leave it to pay by January 2015? My self - employed income started from September 2013 means I am in the financial year of 2013-2014, I read in the HRMC website that earnings made from the self-employment for the financial year 2013-2014 the tax should be paid by January 2015. Please confirm me.
