Do I need a Schengen visa?

Post by jerseyb1 » Mon Feb 17, 2014 12:59 pm

Hi all,

I'm living in Jersey at present, and have a Jersey wet stamp that shows that I am a family member of an EEA national. From reading the forums, I know that I can apply for a visa if I want, and it will be free and take less than 15 working days (but I don't have to, we can prove he is my husband when we reach the border and we will normally be travelling together).

My questions is this:

Would I be able to travel on my own with this visa, or is it only valid when we are travelling together (ie any different from a normal Schengen visa).
How long is this visa valid for?

Thanks

As a South African, if you are travelling to Europe without your EU spouse, you will need to apply for a Schengen Visa.
