Fiancee can't get letter from University in time

Post by ukvisafromperu » Tue Feb 18, 2014 10:39 pm

My Fiancée can't get a letter from her university to prove her enrolment until the 3rd of march at the earliest as her university is on holiday. She has been trying for a month to get this from all levels of staff and they have messed her around and now the person required who hasn't been available before will definitely not be there until the 3rd of march. We need to apply soon to give sufficient time for the application as her flight is on the 31st of March for a 2 week visit. How would you recommend we present this information? We intend to get the letter from this professor on the 3rd of March and then send it to add to the application in Rio de Janerio to complete the application, is this acceptable? Are there any issues we could run into with this? Do you have any other advice for us? Thanks

There are obvious risks with sending additional documents:
* Might get lost in the post
* Might not make it to the respective ECO in time
* Might cause a delay in the application if it raises questions
etc

Doesn't mean you shouldn't send it on - but you should be aware that on a relatively fast turnaround item like a visitor visa - there's only a short window to add documents. The last visitor visas we had processed in Peru were turned around in about 10 working days.

You can also send her most recent transcripts to prove she's been studying with good marks etc.

Otherwise - you just state she's studying and hope the ECO doesn't question it on the balance of probabilities.
