Shifting Tier2 ICT to Tier2 General

Hello All

Background;
I came to UK on Tier 2 (Established staff ) Visa issued on feb’2011 and arrived at UK on March ’2011
I renewed my visa on March 2013 and now I got residence permit on the category Tier2 ICT long term of a validity till one year.

Am I eligible to swap/switch my Visa from Tier 2 ICT Long term staff to Tier 2 General while I am in UK ?

Hi

As far as I know you can't do it inside UK. As the only new tier 2 general can be possibly made by a PSW holder or Tier 4 student.

You have to make a fresh tier2 application from your country

you are allowed to switch from T2 ICT Established Staff to T2G in-country if you have a CoS from a T2G sponsor

Does this mean that if I'm currently here on a Tier 2 ICT (LT), I can switch to T2G if I get a new CoS from a T2G sponsor?

Will the cooling off period affect it?

yes, if your initial leave was T2 ICT Established Staff and you are changing sponsor
Will the cooling off period affect it?
no, cooling-off is only for entry clearance applications from abroad

I entered UK in June 2010 under Tier 2 ICT Established Staff
I've been given leave to remain in 2012 i.e visa extended under Tier 2 ICT long term staff.

Can I still switch from Tier 2 ICT long term staff to Tier 2 general?

Please help.
I have a few queries as I'm planning to change from tier 2 ICT(previously estb staff) to Tier 2 General.

1. My Tier2 ICT visa ends at the end of this year. Which month would be the appropriate time to start my job hunt?
2. Can anyone please tell the approximate duration within which one could get an IT job(9 years experience)?
3. When I apply for the new visa with a new COS number, will my previous employer be notified by UKBA about this?

1 you can switch to T2G any time if you have a CoS, no need to wait until near the expiry date of your current leave

unfortunately not because you didn't have T2 ICT leave before 6 April 2010. However, there is no limit on the number of extensions you can have

if you read that post correctly, it is mentioned that the OP is eligible for ILR after completion of 5 years in 'T2 General' visa.

The number of years you spend on ICT won't be counted for ILR because you were granted leave 'after' 6th April 2010. However you may be eligible for ILR under the 10 year route if you stay on the same T2 ICT visa.

If someone has been in the UK before April 2011 on Tier 2 ICT (and still is in UK), and if all the extensions to his Tier 2 ICT have been done in the UK, can he be sponsored on a Tier 2 general visa? i.e. can they switch jobs here and they dont need to serve any cooling period?

CoS etc. will be available, it is not a concern.

Apologies if this question has been answered umpteen times, but I am confused between two dates April 2011 and April 2010, but of which are used for cut-off, but I dont know which one if any is applicable here.
