Changes to UKBA website

Post by Hubba » Thu Feb 27, 2014 4:21 pm

Hi guys,

Has anyone noticed that the website http://ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk is no more and now redirects to https://www.gov.uk/government/organisat ... mmigration ?

The new website is missing lots of data compared to what it was available through the previous website (casework instructions for example are gone from the main pages now).

Bit dodgy, I'd say.

The other website has already been existing even from the time when their main website was not redirecting. Perhaps they may have some problems in their main website which most usually relating to booking appointment. But we should wait until their further notice/news.

A lot of stuff is missing but don't forget that if you need access to information you can ask for it via the Freedom of Information Act (e.g. via this website: www.whatdotheyknow.com).

Yes, such data is available upon request, whereas before the information was freely available and easily found on their website. This change increased the lack of transparency of the process, since such info is not readily available. It makes more difficult for people to figure out and confirm their rights and plays it directly into their hands, which is why I think it is a bit dodgy.

Before relying the information from the source: http://www.whatdotheyknow.com, care must be given to the date pertaining to it because a lot of time the information is already out of date since the ukba rules have been changing so rapidly. The old version of ukba website containing the news section had been well serving since past by keeping us up to date.

It seems they are fixing the broken links now.

EEA2/4 caseworker instructions: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... structions

Free Movement Rights caseworker instructions : https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... ent-rights

EEA, Swiss nationals and EC association agreements (modernised guidance) : https://www.gov.uk/government/collectio ... d-guidance

Good on them on moving quickly with this. It would be even better if they provided a consolidated list of documents, but at least they haven't taken out these.

This is the new link now, it was never broken in the first place.

They have combined and consolidated all departments of government to one central link.

Here is the link which will take you to all parts of immigration rules

Such collection doesn't include the casework instructions, which are on the links I've provided.

Yesterday, the links for casework instructions were broken, still pointing to the old http://ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk website.

But all is good again, carry on :)
