Tier 1 Entrepreneur Interview

Post by demora » Sat Mar 15, 2014 4:27 pm

Hi all, I have just attended the Tier 1 Entrepreneur Interview and here are some of the questions you can expect. First is confirmation of personal details, date of birth, what visa you used to enter the country, how long you intend to stay in the country. Then you will be given a declaration to read and sign.

1) What is your job title?
2) What is your job description or duties?
3) How much are you investing in your business?
4) Where did you get the money from/source of funds?
5) Name of bank where funds were held
6) Do you have company account?
7) Name of bank where company account is held
8) Do you have professional insurance?
9) How did you do your market research?
10) Who are your competitors? or who are your competitors in your locality?
11) What is your SOC (Standard Occupational Code) code?
12) Are you working?
13) Where are you working?
14) How much are you earning?
15) How are you paying your bills just now?
16) Do you have an office?
17) If you operate from home, what equipment do you have/work with?
18) What were you doing during your post-study?
If working, give dates, names of employers and salary
19) How did you advertise your business?
20) Do you have any responses?
21) How many contracts have you signed?

NOTE: If you have submitted a contract with your application, you need to refresh your memory on that before attending your interview.

A lot of questions came from there in my interview. In asking you questions from your contract, they might use reverse psychology. For instance, the contract I submitted is an ongoing contract, reviewable periodically but I was asked when the contract was to expire.

Interview lasted about 40 minutes. I will come back if I remember more questions

I hope this helps....Good luck

Hi Demora, pls will it be against you if you tell them that your contract is renewable? My contract is renewable and I was asked when it would expire, I told them the date but also told them it is renewable. Should I have kept my mouth shut?

Hi sarahstone, my contract is open, but reviewable every six months, if I had mistakenly said it had an expiry date or gave a date when contract was to expire when asked the expiry date, that would have scored against me. But if your contract is renewable and you told them so, then I think you will be fine

Hi SHAHJEE05, it was just one person, a lady. I think the interview questions are based on the merit of each application. There are general questions though like:

1) What is your job title?
2) What is your job description or duties?
3) How much are you investing in your business?
4) Where did you get the money from/source of funds?
5) Name of bank where funds were held
6) Do you have company account?
7) Name of bank where company account is held
8) Do you have professional insurance?
9) How did you do your market research?
10) Who are your competitors? or who are your competitors in your locality?
11) What is your SOC (Standard Occupational Code) code?
16) Do you have an office?
19) How did you advertise your business?
20) Do you have any responses?
21) How many contracts have you signed?

but they may tailor some questions specifically to your application. Like mine was with the contract I submitted with my application. I got loads of question from there. Maybe they have some doubts about the contract...I really cannot say

Membership of a professional body relevant to your business may also be a great advantage
