ILR or extesion and unpaid tax

Hi, i am post this on behaf of my cuzin as he is inter shy
he was granted HSMP visa in feb 2009 first entery in june 2009 after more than 90 days after just 1 day in uk he left uk and re-enterd in august 2009,than after 4-5days in uk he again left uk and re-enterd in mid of october 2009. NOw is he goig to apply for ILR next month.He got extension as self employes and salaried job.He showed about £40000 income for extension but not paid any tax on this my questions are
1)should he go for ILR or extension(as he is think to give medical reasons for all his absences)

2) would he face any problems due to his unpaid tax as he might showed different income to HMRC and UKBA

now he is going as self employed and salraied person and he needs to show £40000 again
he has 3 kids one born in uk and a wife
urgents response would be appreciated thanxxx

UKBA will check his previous record of self employment and may refuse on the basis of unpaid tax. It happened to few people on this forum.

thanxx for ur advice...much appreciated..i just spoke to him adn he is agreed to pay all his left over tax..though its late and he will bear penalty for this....he got extension in 2012 and now he is filing tax return for 2011 and 2012....woukd this couse him any trouble due to late payment...and how long it takes HMRC to update his tax account...many tanxxxx
