Tax credit - Is National insurance number required for both?

Post by john353 » Tue Mar 25, 2014 2:50 pm

My family has been granted ILR status about a month back. My wife does not have a National insurance number yet as she hasn't worked so far. We are planning to apply for tax credits.

Is it ok to make a joint claim with just my NI number? Can we make the application without the NI number for partner?

To avoid delay, get a NI number just tell the DWP you are jib seeking.
