Schengen visa for the wife, husband just naturalised

Hi,

I'm going to pass the naturalisation procedure quite soon. My wife then needs to apply for a Schengen visa, and at that moment I will be a British citizen, but won't yet have a British passport. Do you think my wife can apply for a Schengen visa as a spouse of an EU citizen?

apply the passport first as a lot of eu embassy requirements are eu citizen and non eu citizen passport and marriage certificate submitted together.
