Translation documents for EEA Family Permit in Spain

Post by Lena29 » Wed May 07, 2014 6:53 pm

Hi everyone,
My Non-EU husband and me are currently living in Spain doing Surinder Singh route here.
We are going to apply for EEA Family Permit for him to UK Visa Centre in Madrid.
I wonder if someone can advise me do we need to translate from Spanish to English submitted documents:
Rental contract
Job contract
Pay slips
Letters from employer and Landlord
Bank Statement
Confirmation we are living together ( Certificado De Convivencia in Spanish)
SIP card
etc..
We just translated Marriage Certificate by Certified Translator in the UK.
Any help would be appreciate

I would guess that they would probably like a translation but I'm not sure.

What about trying to contact the Embassy before the application?

Good luck!

Hi Lena29 and everyone,

What did you translate in the end? My wife is going to apply for a Family permit in Spain too. I'm happy to translate the wedding certificate but everything else will take ages (flat contract, work contract, empadronamiento, vida laboral, payslips, utility bills). At least reading here it seems many people can certify a translation. I can translate it and a friend (translator) can sign that it's a ‘true and accurate translation of the original document’.

https://www.gov.uk/certifying-a-document

But it will take me a while to translate all the contracts and documents and I don't even know if they need it.

Cheers, T
