I have some questions regarding the Tier 2 visa

1. Can you apply for settlement after 5 years?
2. What if in worst case you get fired or laid off? Do you have to re-apply for the visa?
3. "licensed sponsor", can anyone please justify this?
4. Do you get to pick between the up to 3 years and more than 3 years duration?

1. Depends on rules of settlement at that time. Current rules allow u to settle with salary>35k
2. U have to apply a new visa after new job offer and a new cos issued. THis has generally to be done within 60 days or u have to leave country.
3. those companies who have licence to sponsor migrants
4. visa is issued for 2 months plus the duration of the contract.
