ILR requirements for spouse/dependent

Post by amolrakheja » Tue May 20, 2014 11:54 pm

Hi All
Can you please confirm what is the requirement for my spouse for ILR. I am in UK for last 7 years & my wife is here from last 3 years.

Does she need to do ESOL test as`well when I apply for our ILR. I have done my masters from UK, so I don't need ESOL but I am not sure if she need to do ESOL. She has done her engineering from India.

Many Thanks
Amol

I assume you are applying a PBS applicant?

Yes, you must both meet B1 in addition to LIUK. If you spouse is awarded 20 points or more for qualification and 10 for English Skills on the PBS calculator, then a print out should suffice B1.

hi _Amber,

for this we need to use online PBS calculator as Tier 1 General applicant, right ?
if we use PBS calculator as Tier 2 General then there are no points awarded for qualification itself only points for english language.

T1 G has ESOL C1 standard i think and T2 G has ESOL B1, and ILR dependent need B1; so even if we take T1 G PBS printout , is fine ?

regards,
neti

Hi Amber & Neeti
I am on Tier 1 (General) High Skilled. I assume that I a don't need ESOL because I did my masters from UK but not sure about my wife as she has done her engineering from India.

Can you please advise if she need to do ESOL.

Thanks
