Passports returned - no visa incl. Biometric?

I am Australian and recently applied to renew my Ancestry Visa. I did my biometric thing at the post office a few weeks back.

I have just had my passports returned to me, with a letter saying 'the biometric residence perment holds your biographic and biometric information and shows your immigration status..... the permit replaces the vignette or sticker previously placed in passports of those granted permission to stay"

So - does this mean my visa has been approved???

Yes, it sounds like it has and you should receive your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) separately within a week or so.
