Tier1 to ILR with 5 months of continous unemployment

Post by Resmian » Mon Jun 23, 2014 2:43 pm

Hi All,

I got the Tier 1 in Jan 2009 and came to the UK in aug 2009. I am eligible to apply for ILR shortly from tier 1.
However in the last 12 months I did have 5 months of unemployment period.
ie,
Month 1,2,3 - Old Job and salary. I left the Job on my own in Month 3.
Month 4,5,6,7,8 - Unemployed, No salary, job search on.
Month - 9,10,11,12 - New job and salary
I will have sufficient points even with the unemployed period - If i count income from Month 1 to Month 12.
I meet all other criteria.

At some places (also in some guidance notes to case workers) I have seen the reference to bein economically active in the UK for the last 5 years. Does that mean, my period of unemployment will be a problem while applying for ILR?

Any thoughts, pls?

I dont think that will be a problem. As long as you met the required criteria.

Correct me if I am wrong.
