Question about British passport from overseas

Hi,

My daughter was born in Pakistan in February 2014. I am a British born and understand that my daughter will get a British passport through me... I put the application through today and was wondering how long will it realistically take? Been advised 6-8 months but surely it will be quicker say 3 months?
June 30th 2014 - Applied for spouse visa (Pakistan)
August 11th 2014 - daughters Right of Abode applied
August 18th 2014 - Right of Abode successful
December 2nd 2014 - Spouse visa refused
December 29th 2014 - Reapplied for Spouse visa

If you're wanting to travel sooner then perhaps a CoE?
