Tier 2 ILR New Rules

I believe there are going to be new rules requiring a minimum of £35,000 salary to qualify for ILR.
Is this true?
If so ----
My current Tier 2 Expires April 2016.
I'll be applying for a renewal (extra 2 years) in early March 2016 (more than 28days before expiry).
This means I'll be applying for my ILR in March 2018 (more than 28days before expiry).
Should I assume I'll be safe?
How early is it to apply for extension? 28days before expiry? or more?

Assuming your current Tier 2 was granted on April 2013, you are entitled for three (not two) more years of extension after April 2016. This way you will have extension upto 2019 and don't have to rush.

Since you will be for ILR applying before April 2018, you will need to show a minimum salary of £35,000 or the salary appropriate for "experienced level" under your SOC code, whichever is higher. Be aware that if you apply between 6 April 2018 - 5 April 2019, the threshold is £35,500 and on or before 6 April 2019, it is £35, 800. It would be best to apply before 6 April 2018.

I think you can apply for ILR 28 days before your continuous 5 years on Tier 2.
