ITO stamp is in Hindi

Post by meer_iet » Thu Jul 12, 2007 11:31 am

Hello friends,
I have another problem,
the ITO(Income Tax Officer) stamp on my ITR form is in Hindi. Acknowledgment number and dates are in english and ofcourse the ITR form is in english.

I am seeking exceptional consideration as ITR ( period April06-March07) does not cover the claim period May-2006 to April- 2007 completely. I will provide remaining three evidences for the claim period(ie, salary slips; bank statements;letter from employer).

can anyone tell me if the stamp in Hindi on ITR form will be acceptable to HO. the ITO says that they dont have the stamp in English.

I too faced the same problem (Stamp in Hindi). I got a notarised translation of the stamp and appended it to the ITR. It worked for me.

Hi Push_HSMP,

Do you think it is OK to get a certified letter with a stamp from an advocate on his letter pad.

Should be ok. But I can not say for sure as I did not try it. Why dont you just send an email to BHC and find out? You will be sure of a non negative outcome atleast on this count.

I used the following format:

To Whom It May Concern:

This is to certify that the enclosed document (Form no. 2D) which bears Serial Number XXXXXX dated xxJuly 200x is the original receipt of the Income Tax Return (SARAL Form), as issued by the Income Tax Department to Mr. XXXXX, S/O Mr. XXXXXXX.

The official stamp of the issuing officer in Hindi Language translates as:

Additional Income Tax Commissioner,
Range -X, City xxxxx

XX JUL 200x
Received…………..
Serial Number XXXXXXXXXX

Notarised By:

Signature
Date:
